Fremantle defender Alex Pearce has undergone surgery on the leg he broke in Saturday night's 38-point loss to Richmond.

Scans confirmed Pearce had broken the tibia in his right foot, and the 20-year-old will now miss the rest of the AFL season.

He will have a non-weight bearing period of six weeks, before the rest of his rehab plan is mapped out.

Pearce joins Nat Fyfe (broken leg), Aaron Sandilands (ribs), Michael Johnson (knee/hamstring), and Harley Bennell (calf) on the long-term injury list.

Midfielders Stephen Hill (adductor) and David Mundy (calf) will undergo fitness tests this week to determine their availability for Saturday's clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
